Are there any anti-psychotics that don't make you put on weight but are still effective?
I'm thinking of asking to change my meds because the weight gain is making my voices worse and making very depressed.

Risperidone I found to be the best when it's come to weight but it hasn't been effective for me. Olanzapine made me gain a load of weight and it didn't seem to help either.
Sorry, that probably wasn't helpful x

Thank you, I'm going to have a chat with my key worker tomorrow and I'll bring up changing my meds. Olanzapine helped a little but now the voices seem to be coming back stronger and stronger.

Risperidone has helped me somewhat, the voices are still there, but duller and slightly less aggravated. I have put on weight on this one, but only because I was comfort eating, now I am cutting back on food, and my weight is coming back down again.
Hope this helps.

Risperidone hasn't made me put on weight. It doesn't fix things but it does take the edge off. Mind you, I'm on fluoxetine aswell which squishes my appitite so that might have something to do with it.
Abilify's another one that's supposed to be good for not gaining weight.
Hope you get something sorted.

I had an assessment with a doctor yesterday and he's going to try me on Abilify. Thank you for your replies, they've been so comforting and helpful xxx
